YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state's environmental laws.

This position is a member of our Enforcement Division.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Assist management in the coordination of and oversight of Enforcement projects, including TLMS implementation, to ensure division goals and timelines are met. Manage special projects as assigned by the Deputy Director, including organizing special teams, leading meetings as necessary, making recommendations for staff action items, and preparing and delivering reports.
  • Coordinate legislative and media interaction for Enforcement. Ensure legislative inquiries are responded to within deadlines. Oversee legislative bill analysis, ensuring bills impacting Enforcement programs are identified, tracked, responded to within established deadlines. May assist with the preparation of recommendations for legislation, reviewing and reporting on proposed legislation, responding to inquiries from members of the Legislature and their staff, and preparing legislative testimony. Coordinate the implementation of legislation.
  • Assist management in providing oversight of division staff training and development on programmatic tasks, functions, and processes. Act as a mentor and/or coordinates/leads training related to the enforcement process.
  • Assist management in setting priorities, tracking metrics, and guiding division resources.
  • Prepare and provide presentations, as directed by division management, for regional partners and staff from other divisions regarding enforcement and their role in enforcement.




Qualifications:

KEY QUALFIICATIONS

  • Experience with TCEQ Lean Management and/or Six Sigma Lean
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures or rules for the TCEQ
  • Experience in responding to legislative and/or media requests
  • Experience interacting with a regulated community or customer base


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in business, planning, environmental studies, accounting, computer science, related fields, or an area relevant to the position, plus seven years of full-time experience conducting program and/or policy analysis work.

One year of additional experience may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.

A graduate degree in the above areas may substitute for one year of the required experience.

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Management Analyst V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Management Analyst V series.
