The Bureau and its staff are responsible for coordinating the NMDOT's employee engagement programs and ensuring their success and adequate funding.

Why does the job exist?

This Program Coordinator II position exists to revive and coordinate the NMDOT's Employee Engagement programs and strengthen the culture and environment of employee engagement at the agency. The goal is for the NMDOT to be the flagship state agency in the context of employee engagement and pride in public service.

How does it get done?

Key responsibilities of the Program Coordinator II position include:

- Develop and implement strategy to organize and improve employee engagement and,
thereby, improve employee retention.

- Create and develop new opportunities for employee recognition and engagement; calendar, help plan,
and attend employee recognition and employee engagement events (e.g., service awards,
best practice awards, career days, potlucks, food truck days, etc.). Standardize strategy for agency
fundraising (e.g., pursue 501(c )( 4) status for employee association(s)).

- Drafting and implementing program-specific manuals, policies, and procedures. Oversee and
coordinate cohort of NMDOT volunteers assisting with employee engagement and
employee recognition events.

- Work with the Communications Division to publicize the employee engagement culture of the NMDOT
as additional recruitment tool.

Work is performed for NMDOT, its employees, as well as both internal and external customers to include without limitation the general public, municipal and local public bodies of government, and other state agencies and federal offices.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have preferred experience/education in the following areas:

*Must have effective program marketing skills essential to developing new culture and
engagement opportunities.

*The Program Coordinator II must be able to execute comprehensive marketing strategies, utilizing
various communication channels to reach and engage employees. Experience in creating compelling
content, organizing promotional events, and leveraging social media to raise
awareness and drive participation.

*Regular reporting on program success, challenges, and financial status will ensure transparency
and continuous improvement.

*The Program Coordinator II must be able to prepare detailed reports for senior management and
other stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, lessons learned, and areas for future development.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

• Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.

• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. In state travel may be required.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage, all types of weather conditions.
